About Villa Bongi
VILLA BONGI is situated about 7 kilometres from the walls of Lucca, next to one of the city's famous natural springs, the Polla dei Bongi. The villa was originally a convent and has been put to many uses in the past, as a farmer's family home and even as a refuge during the Second World War. Located on the lush green hills of Lucca, the villa is surrounded by forest, olive groves and a large garden with an eighteenth century fountain, once used as an open-air bath. For over 40 years the villa has operated as a restaurant and since 2005 it has been guided by Chef Marco Ribechini, a Lucca native who has worked in England and Australia.
Inside the restaurant is composed of two charming rooms, a small private dining room and a large terrace with panoramic views. The menù presents a mix of the modern and the traditional, with a focus on local ingredients of high qualiy and of seasonal availability. The cellar offers a vast range of local and regional wines.
Thanks to an additional ceremony room and a large open air pergola, the villa also makes a great location for parties and weddings. We installed a wood-fired oven in 2009 and during the summer we also have a pizzeria menù.
Price guide: full a la cartè menu €33-38. Special menus, including 'light lunch' for groups and wine tasting available on request.
